Technology Glossary

Check out this new site which has a glossary on many subjects. The first glossary is aTechnology Glossary for those who don’t quite understand all the jargon and want to get in on the fun. Even wanted to know what ADSL, Applet, Archie and ARPNNet are. Then this site will really help with that. Here are some examples:

100 Base T

A Fast Ethernet base band that can travel at roughly 100mg a second and utilizes UTP type wiring. Similar to the 10 Base T, 100 Base T sends pulses over a network when there is not noticeable traffic. The difference is that the Base 100 pulses involve larger packets of data than the 10 Base T.

A Record

A so-called A Record can be used to designate the address for the web that your traffic should be sent to, in order to arrive at your internet site IP address. It also allows one the opportunity to send traffic to a different IP. It is component of a special file called a zone file.
